Two brothers Rajiv and Sajeeb arrested from Netrakona remanded for 5 days
A court has granted five-day remand to Rajib Bepari and Sajeeb Bepari, two brothers arrested in a case related to the brutal murder of scrap metal trader Lal Chand alias Sohag (39) in front of Mitford (Sir Salimullah Medical College) Hospital in the capital, for questioning. Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court Magistrate Masum Mia issued the order on Monday.

Sources related to the court said that the police presented Rajib and Sajeeb in the court this afternoon and requested for seven-day remand for questioning. After the hearing, the court granted five-day remand to each of them.
The Dhaka Metropolitan Detective Branch (DB) arrested the two brothers with the help of local police from the China More area of Durgapur Municipality in Netrokona early Sunday morning.
Netrokona Police Superintendent Mirza Sayem Mahmud said that they were arrested in a raid at around 4:30 am yesterday in the China More area of Durgapur. Rajib and Sajeeb Bepari are two brothers, sons of the late Yunus Bepari of Tunarchar area of Mehendiganj upazila of Barisal. Among them, Rajib is accused number 10 and Sajeeb is accused number 7 in the case.
Last Wednesday, a group of people brutally killed Lal Chand in public on a busy road in front of Mitford (Sir Salimullah Medical College) Hospital. Before killing him, they called him and beat him up and hit him with pieces of bricks and stones, crushing his head and various parts of his body. At one stage, he was stripped naked. Some people jumped on his body.
A case was filed at the Kotwali Police Station in the capital on Thursday in connection with the murder of Lal Chand. Manjuara Begum (42), the sister of the deceased Lal Chand, filed the case as the plaintiff. The name of 19 people is mentioned in the case. An unknown number of 15-20 people were named as accused. It is learnt that the police have arrested a total of seven people in this case so far after the arrest of Rajiv and Sajeeb.
